Alexis Dupree - St. Luke's School - New Canaan, CT

Alexis has a strong work ethic and dedication to her studies at St. Luke’s, where she entered as a fifth grader from the Waterside School. She has a gift for understanding difficult situations and giving those around her the support that they need.  She moves her peers to a better and more productive way of thinking by always reinforcing the good that she sees in them while challenging them to do and be even better.  These are the qualities that make her an ideal candidate for the “kindness” award.

Alexis is a strong social justice advocate, who plans to study social work as an undergraduate. When she is not pursuing her academic and career goals, Alexis contributes time to the athletic program at St. Luke's as a manager, volunteers at her alma mater and is a member of the Student Diversity Leadership Council (SDLC). She is also a gifted singer who has performed in a selective acapella group.

Erin Mahoney - Sewickley Academy - Sewickley, PA

Congratulations to our B Kind 2018 scholarship recipient from Sewickley Academy, Erin Mahoney. Erin is a rising junior. She is the essence of thoughtfulness, kindness and empathy. She consistently manages to show up and support her peers and the younger students at the academy and students in need beyond the campus. She has exceeded expectations for volunteer hours with more than 200 and yet she never files for acts of kindness. Erin embodies academic excellence and is often seen helping her classmates with chemistry problems, peer-reviewing other students' essays, and volunteering in the school's Theatre Department. She also helps out with ESL (English-as-a-Second-Language) classes at a local church and assists the local Latino Community Center by organizing clothing donations over the summer. When she's not busy with volunteering and school work, Erin enjoys reading books about American history, playing card games with her friends, and acting in her role as the Editor-in-Chief of her school newspaper, the 7th Pillar.
